LEAD

Making Impactful Change

Inclusion of differing viewpoints, cultures, and lifestyles has never been more important than now.

FASEB LEAD (Leadership Engagement and Appreciation of Differences), a component of FASEB's Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) initiative, is an innovative reverse-mentoring program that pairs senior-level professionals with junior-level mentors to gain different perspectives of individual, group, and cultural views within the workplace and scientific research communities.

About LEAD

FASEB LEAD allows participants to exchange personal views and workplace perspectives in open, respectful, confidential, and trusting environments. The goal of the program is to allow participants to become change agents and gain broader perspectives of diversity, equity, and inclusivity that can improve decision-making processes at their institutions, thereby helping to transform the culture of the biological and biomedical research community.

Participants

Junior-level reverse mentors include early-career researchers such as assistant or associate professors, postdocs, graduate students, managers, analysts, or coordinators. Examples of reverse mentees may include deans, provosts, vice presidents, presidents, department chairs or division chiefs, professors, or executive directors.

Eligibility

Researchers in the life sciences field, as well as staff at FASEB Full Member societies, are eligible to participate. Membership in a FASEB society is not required to participate in LEAD; however, individual members of FASEB Full Member societies will receive priority.
