FASEB is pleased to welcome the Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EMGS) as an Affiliate Member, expanding the federation’s collaborative network of scientific societies dedicated to advancing biological and biomedical research.

Founded in 1969, EMGS is an international scientific society focused on understanding how environmental exposures affect genetic material and human health. EMGS supports research, education, and scientific exchange across the fields of mutagenesis, genomics, DNA repair, toxicology, and environmental health sciences.

Through its Affiliate Membership, EMGS will engage with FASEB’s scientific society network and participate in collaborative discussions on science policy, advocacy priorities, and issues impacting the scientific workforce.

“We are pleased to welcome EMGS as an Affiliate Member,” said Eric E. Kelley, PhD, President of FASEB, “Their expertise in environmental mutagenesis and genomics strengthens our broader scientific community and creates new opportunities for collaboration and engagement across the biological and biomedical community. We look forward to working together to strengthen the research enterprise and champion policies that enable science to thrive.”

The partnership will also provide opportunities to connect EMGS members with interdisciplinary scientific communities, professional development resources, and broader conversations shaping the future of biomedical and environmental health research.

“Joining FASEB represents an important step in advancing an initiative of EMGS to strengthen our role in scientific advocacy and public policy. We look forward to collaborating with FASEB and its diverse community of scientific societies working toward the advancement of human health and the betterment of our world. This partnership will create valuable opportunities for our members to engage in advocacy efforts that advance both science and public health,” said Karen M. Vasquez, PhD, President of EMGS.

The addition of EMGS as an Affiliate Member reflects FASEB’s commitment to fostering collaboration across scientific disciplines and supporting organizations that advance scientific discovery, innovation, and research excellence.
