Iyanuoluwa Ogunmiluyi

Iyanuoluwa Ogunmiluyi is in her second year of the PhD program in pharmacology at Kent State University, where she researches on the relationship between metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases, as well as understanding the mechanism behind the development of coronary collateral growth (CCG) in patients with ischaemic heart disease (IHD). Her work addresses the problem of poor prognosis in patients with poorly developed coronary collateral growth in the event of a cardiovascular disease.

Prior to her arrival in the U.S., she received her first degree at the University of Ibadan where she studied Veterinary Medicine.

Her final year project as an undergraduate where she evaluated the medicinal potential of methanol leaf extract of Chromolaena odorata in some laboratory animals spurred her interest in biomedical research.

She received her Master's in veterinary pharmacology in Nigeria after which she joined the Cardiorenal laboratory at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, as a research assistant.

In 2020 and 2023, she received the Outstanding Young Scientists General Travel award in the Graduate and Post baccalaureate Student Category for poster presentations at the Experimental Biology conference, as well as a scholarship to attend the Vasculata 2023 conference organized by North American Vascular Biology Organization (NAVBO) respectively.
