FASEB Celebrates Open Access Week 2024
Monday, October 21, 2024From October 21-27, 2024, FASEB joins the global academic community in celebrating International Open Access Week, focusing on this year’s theme, “Community over Commercialization.” This theme underscores the importance of prioritizing approaches to open access that serve the needs of researchers and the public over profit-driven models.
As a non-profit organization, FASEB is committed to advancing health and well-being by promoting research and education in the biological and biomedical sciences. Our open access fees are reinvested into supporting this mission, ensuring that the funds we generate go back to the research community and our member societies.
At FASEB, we offer open access publishing options that reflect this commitment. FASEB BioAdvances is a fully open access journal, ensuring that all published research is freely available to the public, supporting transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration. The FASEB Journal, our flagship publication, operates as a hybrid journal, offering open access publishing options for authors.
In an era where commercialization increasingly influences academic publishing, FASEB continues to prioritize community-driven, equitable access to knowledge. By supporting open access and open science, we empower researchers and ensure that the fees associated with publication directly benefit the scientific community through research, advocacy, and education initiatives.
Join us in celebrating Open Access Week by reflecting on how we can build and support community-focused infrastructures that serve the public interest. Let’s continue to prioritize open access solutions that promote collaboration, diversity, and the free exchange of knowledge.
