Protein Phosphatases

Summary

December 8-12, 2024

This year’s conference is our second year in direct collaboration with the Japanese Association for Protein Phosphatase Research (JAPPR) conference and will continue to provide a foundation in the discipline to early-career investigators and inform experienced researchers of new developments.

For nearly 35 years, this conference has explored the roles of protein phosphatases in normal physiology and pathological conditions. This is the only event in North America that provides this opportunity and is essential to supporting growth within this field of research. Sessions during this meeting will apply to a variety of audiences, including basic, translational, and clinical researchers from across academia and industry.

Protein phosphatases are involved in virtually every area of cellular biology. As researchers across multiple disciplines decipher the complexities of a particular signaling pathway, the essential regulatory role of protein phosphatases repeatedly emerges, driving more scientists to study these enzymes. This conference will cover the spectrum of research from basic science to potentially new targets for disease therapeutics.

Goals and Takeaways

· Learn about the dynamic role of protein phosphorylation within cellular signaling in human disease.

· Understand new targeted approaches to modulating protein phosphorylation for the treatment of human diseases.

· Build collaborations with leaders and innovators in the field.

· Garner opportunities for early-career and trainees to network with established research leaders.

· Foster collaborations on projects that span multiple disciplines and areas of research.

Workshops

Meet the Expert lunch sessions will be held where senior and experienced researchers will provide career and scientific advice to early career investigators.

Career Development Workshops will be held as well. The first will involve starting one’s own research program and the second will discuss career path opportunities in the scientific community.

Keynote Speaker
